New Year Quilting Resolutions
Resolution #1: The more I look at the new spring fabrics the more I itch to start something new. But I've made a resolution for the year and I'm trying really hard to stick with it ----- before every new project this year, I must first finish one UFO (UnFinished Object) in my basket.
If I happen to exhaust my UFO list, the next promise to myself is that for every new project, I will use something from my stash. Don't get me wrong -- I love, LOVE, my stash. It won't ever go away. But like food storage, it needs to be rotated once a year so I can pick out something new to add.
Resolution #2: I need to make time to update my Quilting Journal with important information while I still remember it. The Journal should include a photo of the finished quilt, notes about fabric and construction, and the dates it was started and finished.
But it should also include "the story" of why the quilt was made -- who it was for -- why that particular pattern was chosen -- and the kind of personal notes I would hope were included if I discovered my grandmother had made quilts.
Resolution #3: I need to put more Charity Quilts in my schedule. There is no describing the joy derived from handing over quilted projects that I made for Dona's Lovies and for Safe Nest. My resolution is to schedule a Charity Quilt one-for-one along with every other project I make during 2010.
