Always Fun To Visit A Quilt Shop
To Inspire The Creative Urge

Kathy's Sign

And visiting the shop with another quilter really lights the fires!

I went to Utah for a few days in August -- making a 50th-year-friendship visit with my pal Sue Schroyer (whom most of you know is also my quilting instructor).
The visit was wonderful. The new quilting lesson is still percolating around in my head. I don't know if I'm ready for applique just yet, but I had a great introduction to the fine art.

While out and about one day we toured a few yard sale locationsmade, then made an unscheduled stop in Richfield at Kathy's Fabirc Shop.

The store is located at 597 N. Main Street; a few blocks north of Richfield's commercial storefront district, and on the edge of a quiet residential neighborhood. The door faces Main street with shaded parking at the curb. There is extra parking in the lot next door if needed.

It's a quaint and cozy little place with traditional "warm & fuzzies" in all the right corners -- a few sample quilts and other finished pieces, packaged kits, and fun gifts ready to wrap.

Kathy's Sign

Kathy explained that she doesn't sell online yet -- that's a future project. But she does participate in many quilt shows and craft fairs in the region. I'll try to get a copy of her schedule for those of us close enough to catch her when she's close by.

The back of the store is attached to Kathy's house that faces the side street. Really, it's the ultimate "Mom and Pop" business setup. We could hear puppy sounds at the door between the shop and the house, and when we requested it, Kathy let her mineature poodle out to visit with us. The 7-month-old sweetie is named "Abbie" after the quirky gothic girl genius on NCIS.

While we were there Sue purchased a complete AccuQuilt setup. I'll try to get her to write a review on the equipment and tell us how she likes it. And I'll put that with the AccuQuilt info I've requested from the manufacturer.

While Sue looked at the AccuQuilt, I was busy looking at quilt kits that Kathy had put together from the Loralie Designs line. I am a big fan of anything from Loralie.

Loralie Designs

I found whole bolts of the line standing in the racks and had a great time pulling them out one by one to inspect all the artwork between the repeats. I thought I was familiar with the line, but nearly all of the fabrics were new to me.

Then Kathy really made my day -- she pointed me to a basket containing precut panels in several of the Loralie Designs patterns.

I won't admit how many I bought (that's a secret between me and my credit card). But I WILL take photos when I start working with this fabric, and will post everything here on the website.
